Librarians have it good, living among books. Librarians at the Library of Congress have it best, with the amazingly complete collection of books, top-notch scholars, and just plain old curious stuff lying around.
Like copies of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
Garry Wills argues that Lincoln rethought and recast America’s image in that speech, in less than two minutes — though it took a century before the recasting was complete.
The Library of Congress just has the history, and notes the power of the speech overall.

Good Evening, John!
Welcome to MFB!
I’m sorry our first discussion has to be a contentious one. While it’s nice that your wife won’t permit you to use profanity on the internet, “freaking idiot” is still rather rude.
But more rude is to simply call someone an idiot and not provide one scintilla of justification for such a comment.
Why are we idiots, John?
Have you the integrity and the intellect to offer some substance? Or are you just another Glenn Beck clone, incapable of reasoned discourse and supporting your rather spurious, broad-brush insults?
I’m really eager for you to respond, John. Presuming your wife lets you.

By the way, John, next time why don’t you try refuting what I said instead of just merely attempting to insult me.
Or were you unable to do so?

Oh poor little John is such a God damn little a*****e in thinking that he has the ability to insult me.
Sorry, John, the next time you say “freaking idiot” look in the mirror.

Nick K,
I didn’t realize there were still that many freaking idiots left in America. You proved me wrong. You and your Democrat friends are ALL freaking idiots.
Sorry about the language… my wife won’t let me swear on the web. Use your imagination.

Ed, didn’t the Republicans, during Clinton’s presidency, accuse him of taking campaign funds from the Chinese?
Apparently the Republicans problem wasn’t that he was supposedly doing so…but that they weren’t getting any of it.

So the party of Lincoln has allied itself with the so called US Chamber of Commerce.
Which is not only bankrolling the Republicans attempts to regain power…but is arranging meetings between executives from US companies and Chinese officials on how to outsource US jobs to china.
Oh Lower and Morgan you must be so proud of your precious Republicans. Not only are they trying to buy the elections and sell the country to the US Chamber of Commerce and big business…but they’re hopping in bed with the people that have been destroying the middle class by selling our jobs overseas. The Republican party has become the whores of the people endangering this country.
You must be so proud of yourselves.
