I didn’t say Baton Rouge residents need to be complacent. My interest is in the way Baton Rouge got devastated while the nation was looking the other way.
Good communities pull together in times of crisis. Is Baton Rouge part of America? Where is the community action here?

The residents of Baton Rouge need to be more self reliant and stop blaming Washington for their problems. The state of LA has the primary responsibility for it’s residents, not DC. We certainly didn’t hear crying and wailing and blame being flung about when Iowa was flooded beyond recognition, did we? Maybe the good citizens of Baton Rouge should have spent their FEMA money on repairing or rebuilding rather than on Louis Vuitton leather goods.
Until people take responsibility for their own success or failure they will never give up the dole. The only way Democrats have any power is by “taking care of everyone because they cannot do it for themselves”. Wow – that’s empowering!
Well Ed, you can take your weak constituency and move on to another country if you don’t like it here. That, after all, is what makes America great. You can leave any time you want, and now looks pretty good. Enjoy Canada, or France, or any other country you think is so superior. I’m staying and supporting McCain-Palin.
