Did Willie ever play Ray Charles in chess?  Did anyone get a photo of the game?

That should read ‘Bird’ opening. It was named after Henry Bird, an English chess player.
    Sorry for the error.

Well my guess is that you understand chess on a far deeper level than Willie Nelson. (Or most of the rest of us for that matter)

I would guess that Willie lost that game. His king’s bishop is blocked, both knights are still at home and this is likely move five for white.
    If Willie won that game, I would be surprised. I think Willie tried 1. P-Kb4 P-Q4 2.P-Q3 N-QB3 3. P-K4 P-Q3 4. PxP PxP 5. …

All speculation because we cannot see how Black developed. But we know that each player has captured a pawn and White’s king pawn is not there but his Queen pawn is. In any event, a Byrd (P-Kb4) opening is unusual and risky.

Just a guess this is the way it might have gone. Any other analysis out there?
