It’s horrifyingly ironic if you think about it: Republicans opposed expanding access to the health care system with a false claim that the Democratic plan included rationing of health care in a “death panels” clause. Completely untrue. The bill barely passed.
But did you see what happened last week at the Republican Party’s event featuring their candidates for president? Here a citizen responds to the Republicans:
In their silence, Republicans appear to support rolling back current health care, foregoing “death panels” as not harsh enough, and moving on to “let ’em all die.”

I was aware of the rule, but didn’t realize it was so draconian and stupid at the same time. The two top undergraduate physics programs in the U.S. may graduate five or fewer two or three years running — but under this rule, they’d be dismantled.
Truly stupid, truly destructive. With policy makers like these, who needs al Quaeda?

Not to mention that the part of the bill that the Republicans falsely advertised as “death panels” was inserted into the bill in the first place by a Republican.

In my opinion, none of the candidates care about the American people as a whole, and they certainly don’t care if we live or die. They care about having power and staying in power and being supported by the wealthy. Certainly, there are those who jump on the bandwagon and are not wealthy, but so many of them think that if they stay on long enough…if they can just reach out and touch the hem of the garment of that powerful person, they’ll be blessed with money and a lack of conscience also.
It wouldn’t matter how they answered the woman’s question. They all would rather the poor and sick died. There would always be another to pick up their garbage, tend their lawn, and nanny their children. We don’t even have to mention the poor elderly. If they had any real patriotism, they’d have taken Pete Townshend’s advice.

A few weeks ago a black man in Cincinnati Ohio died from a cranial infection originating in an impacted wisdom tooth. A doctor he had seen at an emergency room had sent him out the door with prescriptions for pain medicine and antibiotics but no actual medicine and without a valid referral that would have allowed him to get the infected tooth treated or removed.
Hundreds of conservative bloggers and commenters that I saw blamed the man for not having the money, not understanding what care was available, not doing this or that. Essentially they blame a man with a painful, major infection for not thinking clearly and being a strong self advocate.
It’s not really “let him die” it’s more like “good, he’s dead. He deserved it for being ______”
Anybody who thinks the U.S. can survive with half the body politic cheering the painful, unfortunate deaths of the other half is flat insane. This is how civil wars start.
