Are we mice, or fully-functioning human brains?

I’m still smiling about Ed Brayton’s post at Dispatches from the Culture Wars — here in its entirety:

From the utterly delusional Christine O’Donnell [Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Delaware], said on the Bill O’Reilly show in 2007:

“They are — they are doing that here in the United States. American scientific companies are cross-breeding humans and animals and coming up with mice with fully functioning human brains.”

Which gives those hypothetical mice a sizable leg up on O’Donnell.

She’s right about the mice: and that’s why mice fully support eliminating tax cuts for millionaires, and O’Donnell doesn’t.

To give the devil her due, she probably heard something that contained the words mice, humans, and brain, because there is some research in that area.

However, like most loonies and liars, she made up a story to go along with it. Her propensity for untruth should make people back away from her, but these days? Apparently, any lunatic and liar is preferable to any Democrats, or anyone at all, including Republicans, who might possibly wish to serve their country rather than having their country serve them.

She’s living off her campaign funds and doesn’t seem to want to work for a living, but that’s another story.
