Saved by the ice

I have jury duty today, so I’ve been scrambling to get everything ready for a sub to take my classes.

Hah!  Contrary to usual practice, Dallas ISD just called (before 5:00 a.m.) to tell us all offices and schools are closed due to the ice storm (which arrived hours ahead of prediction).  Dallas generally stays open for all events.  ‘Despite the nuclear bomb detonated in downtown Dallas, schools will be open today, except for those incinerated in the immediate area of the blast.  Tech support and payroll will be unavailable, however, due to the evaporation of DISD HQ.  Watch for further updates.’

So I can skate to town to do jury duty, putting my life in peril, without having to worry about a substitute.
