Is there any rational person in the world who really views the world this way?
I had thought this a minor deal, until I saw the denials on the news a few minute ago. You might explain it. But deny it?

That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

Oh and by the way, Dave, most of that “47%” you so love to kvetch about pay the payroll tax and do it at a higher percentage then Mittens pays on his income tax.
And you’re sitting there claiming that the 47% are the spongers?
Oh no no. It’s mittens and his ilk that are the moochers. And you can sit there and blind yourself to that fact all you want but no matter how long you kiss the arse of Mittens and his ilk you will never be one of them.
So its time, David, that you start looking out for your own economic interests instead of sacrificing them because you’ve been brainwashed by the GOP into becoming a arsekisser.

In fact the GOP proposed giving vouchers to injured vets. Gen. Shinseki floated it as a proposal, and it got shot down massively; of course, GOP partisans now claim it was Obama’s idea, not theirs. Obama’s administration at least bothered to consult with veterans before taking it out on the campaign trail.
I’m shocked at the pass many vets give the GOP to slash veterans benefits, just because they don’t like the black guy. It may not be patently racist, but it’s stupid, and damaging to veterans, and to the nation. GOP should be fair target for criticism when they say dumb stuff and propose dumb things.
If we’re going with proposals ungrounded in history, law, or common sense, how about a voucher to everyone to hire the gunslinger of their choice to defend the nation? Why stop at health care for the injured defenders?

Although he didn’t call them out in particular, maybe Romney should discuss those freeloader veterans hurt in Iraq and Afghanistan, who depend in VA hospitals. We could shut those down and give vets vouchers.

I think Morgan is more a genuine believer — he has taken on faith that conservatism, in this particular modern incarnation (emphasis on “carn”) is good and wholesome — and I think that blinds him and other true believers to the difficulties.
If we asked them to document Romney’s claims, seriously, they’d strike out convinced that the numbers would support the claims, and regardless what the numbers show, they will try to bend the numbers to answer the claims to support Romney’s viewpoint.
I’m shocked at the loss of communitarian spirit there.

Who’d have thought that a Mormon kid, who attended BYU, an Eagle Scout, could entertain such ideas about America? He had to earn the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge. How many thousand times did he repeat the Scout Law, pledging to be “Trustworthy, Loyal, Helplful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind . . . Reverent.” (The only one he seems to remember is “Thrifty,” but he’s got an Ebenezer Scrooge idea about what it means: ‘I’ve got mine; we’ll end the workhouses, expand the prisons, and no one should be taking any of mine.’)
How can a candidate for a major party misunderstand the statistics on who pays taxes, and who does not? This should be a key focus of demographic understanding for the advertising people. We read earlier yesterday that Romney tends to be more involved in that part of his campaign than other candidates. How can he be so stupid, or ignorant, when it’s his job to know better? He said 47% of Americans don’t pay taxes and are dependent on the government for housing, food and money. About 8% of Americans don’t pay income taxes because they make less than poverty wages, OR they make 1,000 or 10,000 times poverty wages and they game the system (Romney). On a tax bill of, let’s say, $3 million, he skips out on $1.5 million, and it’s “legal;” the widow down the street with two kids fails to make enough to hit the poverty line with her two minimum wage jobs, and she’s a ‘leech on society,’ ‘lazy,’ and ‘dependent?’
I used to work with Republicans. They weren’t that ignorant, or stump stupid, then. What happened?
So, it’s clear we can’t trust this guy with our national checkbook. He doesn’t understand how to pay the help, nor especially why to pay them. He doesn’t understand the income of the house, nor how to increase it when we need to.
He insults our allies, like Britain. He manages to drive up the price of gasoline threatening to bomb Iran. He rubs sore a policy split between D.C. and Jerusalem/Tel Aviv on Iran, to the benefit of the Ayatollah and Ahmadinejad, and their nuclear plans — then claims we need to bomb them instead of talking them out of making a bomb (Hello? Iraq? Afghanistan? Does this numbskull never learn from experience? Oh, that’s right — he skipped Vietnam). He sends jobs to China for his personal profit, but demands we take an illegally aggressive stance toward China on government trade policy.
Romney denounces the idea of “Arab Spring,” but demonstrates unbelievable religious bias along the way, defending insults to Islam (can you imagine his views, had that film targeted Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, and the LDS faith?). He declares himself smarter than God in claiming the seas don’t rise. Economically he advocates stuff rejected by the Austrian School, while claiming to be conservative instead of the anarchist he’s playing.
The question is, Morgan, why aren’t you seeing the facts? Surely you don’t believe the false claim that 47% of the people are dependent on government. You’re not that addle-headed. You can read charts, you know tax rates, you understand economics much better than that. How can you support somebody who comes out with stuff like that? Are you a creationist, too? You think George Bush bombed the Pentagon on September 11, 2001? You think Neil Armstrong a liar instead of a hero? Of course you don’t buy that wackaloonery.
I had thought Romney the least crazy, best qualified of the Republicans. Now I fear for my nation when I realize that nearly half the population thinks he’s qualified to take an oath he’s shirked before, He’s not qualified to run the Department of Interior on a sunny day in August. Heck, he’s sided against the teachers in Chicago, without learning what Rahm Emanuel’s plan is — knee-jerk, anti-teacher, anti-education views from a guy whose first degree comes from a school whose gate proclaims “Knowledge is the glory of God,” and tells students, “Enter to learn, go forth to serve.”
Reminds me of that old “Twilight Zone” joke, “To Serve Mankind.”

So…all the people who voted/vote for Obama and support him in the polling are people who don’t pay taxes? Does that mean I can contact the IRS and ask for my money back?
