To quote Ed: James, I’m loathe to give up Alaska.
How about we let ‘em have Detroit, or Newark?
How about we give them the bikini atoll instead and we can give the residents of that place Texas in payment

To quote TexasProud: Why don’t you go ahead and build that fence *******. I’d be fine not having to deal with the likes of you. Oh, and a Texas would be just fine as would Alaska as we watch the rest of you idiots spend your asses into oblivion on your social programs.
Really? Texas is one of the biggest welfare whore states in this country. It gets 40% of its budget paid for by the other 49 states. And that’s not even counting the hundreds of billions the US Government pumps into Texas’s economy yearly via military bases and other such things. You jokers are depaving your roads because you’ve cut taxes so much that you can’t afford it. Of course that doesn’t stop your precious Republicans from giving the rich and corporations more tax cuts. And tell me…didn’t you have a town blow up a few months ago because of the irresponsibility of the Texas government to take care of its own responsibilities?
Same goes for Alaska, child.
If they were both independent they would both be third world countries inside six months.

James, I have friends in TX and would not like that to happen. The text book thing is more problematic, since it affects the rest of the country as far as what is available. It is troublesome when a State has dentists making decisions as to what should be called “science.”

Since it would be expensive to build a border fence along the northern border of Texas…can we make a deal with the teabaggers and let them have Alaska as an independent country and we get the rest of the country?
It would also get rid of the Palin’s and my step great grandmother’s family.
