“Once a soldier . . .” — Who is the artist?

Once a soldier, always a soldier; Who created this?

Who created this?

Interesting tribute to old soldiers, quite touching — and thought provoking.

As with too much other good stuff on the internet, the attribution to the creator or creators has been stripped away in a thousand repostings.

Who created this image?  Do they have other thought-provoking stuff we should know about?

    That’s remarkable,by itself.

You should hire yourself out for such stuff.

Not a clue on who did it. Date searches on web are totally unreliable. It has also been reposted too many times. Any names on pictures appear to be added to earlier versions without anything in that part of the picture so presumably the names came later. I don’t know when the “Soldier” phrase was added either. It doesn’t seem to be original since some of the larger versions of the picture don’t have them.
Finding the three parts is all i can do.

As Ed says, discovering who creates such images is pretty much impossible.
However the individual components can be identified. This picture is a composite of three separate images:
    1) The old man is a stock image from FotoSearch http://www.fotosearch.com/DGT100/42-19549676/
    2) The backdrop is the Kranji War Memorial in Singapore, taken 2006 by Robert J Steiner http://www.streetdirectory.com/stock_images/travel/scenery_normal/11569533420492/Kranji_War_Memorial-wall_of_names/
    3) The shadow (silhouette) with drawn on extensions is a US 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion Marine at Salah Ad Din, Iraq. http://img.bemil.chosun.com/nbrd/data/10044/upfile/201104/20110423092330.jpg from http://bemil.chosun.com/nbrd/gallery/view.html?b_bbs_id=10044&pn=1&num=151114 maybe posted Apr 2011.

Ed, BF may be your most prolific commentor, but there are definitely other readers. Having a father and grandfather who were veterans, it’s worth remembering the point of a citizen army.

Misanthrope? You don’t know what the word means, Ed.

You honor murderers and killers and call those that are repulsed by those that kill humans to be those that hate humans.

    You are one weird nut.

I don’t believe I’ve stumbled on quite so great a misanthrope as you in a long time, BF.
