It’s been one of those weeks, and I missed posting anything early for Carl Sagan’s birthday, a day on which many work to keep his memory and wisdom alive.
Here are a few of the tributes, from Twitter.
Today is Carl Sagan's birthday.
He is no longer with us, but his words will always live on.
Carl's insight into the world and our future is unmatched.
To honor him, I would like to share "A Pale Blue Dot". pic.twitter.com/24JA8bznd8

Carl Sagan has so many 🔥 quotes. But on what would've been his 83rd birthday this one feels particularly salient:
"In our obscurity—in all this vastness—there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us."— Maddie Stone (@themadstone) November 10, 2017

Honoured and delighted to receive the Carl Sagan Award at Carnegie Mellon University last night. Sagan was a lyrical prose poet who should have won the Nobel Prize for Literature, thereby setting a noble precedent for science.

I miss him. He was very good at explaining things, and even when it was something I didn’t understand at all, he made me feel that if I only tried just a little bit harder, it would come to me. When I read Demon-Haunted World, I would have been able to tell without a chapter heading, which chapters he wrote. In fact, I think it’s time to read it again.
