- Remember Yucca Mountain? Remember the problem of nuclear wastes? The Salt Lake Tribune updates us all on the issues in a lengthy article, “After Yucca: America’s homeless nuclear waste.” Yucca Mountain appears not to be the solution to the Obama administration. But there is no Plan B.
- Route 66 News reports that Americans, especially high school students, turn to John Steinbeck in tough economic times. The Joads rank high in America’s reading and viewing these days.
- Chris Mooney, author of The Republican War on Science, takes the Washington Post and columnist George Will to task for playing fast and loose with the facts and the science on global warming and total ice coverage of the Arctic Ocean — in the Washington Post itself. Will gets an “F.”
- Alun Salt at Archaeoastronomy asks you to participate in an experiment to determine how much of your stargazing is harmed by light pollution in your neighborhood. It’s easy — but the experiment coordinators need results of your viewing through March 28. Hurry.
- Faith and Film Critics Circle lists the movies with the most significant exploration of spiritual themes or content for the past year — you’ll find some surprises and good recommendations, as well as a couple of blockbusters included.
